X-Yachts Solent Cup 2026
X‑Yachts Solent Cup 2026 Delivers Standout Racing and Strong Fleet Performance on the Solent
The X‑Yachts Solent Cup 2026 delivered a full weekend of competitive racing despite an uncooperative start on Saturday, when the fleet was held ashore for two hours due to a complete absence of wind. Once the breeze finally settled across the Solent, the Race Committee moved efficiently to ensure the full schedule was completed, setting up a weekend that combined tactical challenges, close‑fought racing, and the trademark camaraderie that defines the X‑Yachts community.
The IRC race fleet, spanning everything from the nimble X‑302 to the powerful X4.6, delivered fiercely fought competition on the water — and proved just as competitive later at the bar, where the evening camaraderie was every bit as lively.
Within the Pure Cruising Class, Sunday’s pursuit race was a highlight for many. The fleet compressed dramatically on the penultimate leg, with all but one boat bunching together before a final, tactical short close reach to the finish off Hill Head, making for an exciting conclusion enjoyed by all.
Saturday evening saw the fleet come together shoreside for pre‑dinner Dark ’n’ Stormies, generously sponsored by North Sails, served on Den’s Deck as the sun dipped over the river. The mood carried seamlessly into a sold‑out dinner for 100 guests, where crews, families and supporters enjoyed a superb meal and a lively evening that showcased the strong community spirit at the heart of the Solent Cup.

A Well Supported and Well Run Event
The regatta prizegiving opened with thanks to the team behind the scenes, including Race Officer Peter Bateson, whose calm and consistent race management once again set the tone for a smooth weekend afloat.
Support from Committee Vessel owned by Bill Blain and the committee vessel team ensured efficient race operations, while the Royal Southern Yacht Club’s Sailing Office — led by Jack in his first Solent Cup — delivered seamless shoreside coordination. Amy and the Events & Front of House teams were also recognised for their hospitality throughout the weekend.
The event was proudly supported by long‑standing partners North Sails, B&G, Ronstan, Dubarry and Gallagher, whose contributions continue to elevate the Solent Cup experience.
