2010 X-Yachts Xc 42 boat for sale

Xc 42 – Build No. 28 (2010) | Summary

This Xc 42, build number 28 and commissioned in 2010, is an exceptionally well‑maintained example of X‑Yachts’ acclaimed bluewater cruiser. Lying in Levkas, Greece and considered EU tax‑paid, she features the desirable three‑cabin, two‑heads layout with classic U‑shaped galley to port and an owner’s cabin forward. The interior is finished in hand‑crafted teak with satin varnish, showcasing the high‑quality craftsmanship typical of the Xc range.

The yacht has benefitted from continuous care and significant recent investment. In 2025–26, major updates were completed including full replacement of all rod rigging by BSI, new backstay wire, refurbished turnbuckles, new bearings for the furling system, and a new bimini. In spring 2026, the hull was polished, antifouled, and fitted with new corrosion‑resistant through‑hull fittings and seacocks. The rudder lower bearing and saildrive seal were also replaced, and both main engine and generator received full servicing.

Sail handling is highly specified with electric genoa, mainsheet, and halyard winches, plus a telescopic whisker pole. The sail wardrobe includes 2017 Hydranet mainsail and genoa (both in good condition and serviced 2026), along with lightly used gennaker and staysail. Deck equipment includes teak throughout, multiple sunshades, full cockpit cushions, sprayhood, enclosure, and comprehensive winter and summer covers.

Systems are extensive: Volvo 75hp engine with Flexofold propeller, Fisher Panda generator, Eberspacher heating, Victron inverter/charger, AGM batteries (2023), solar panels, upgraded electronics including B&G Zeus 2 plotter, Simrad instrumentation, Halo 20+ radar (2025), autopilot with overhauled ram, AIS, and retractable bow thruster.

Anchoring and safety gear are equally well appointed, with a 30kg Spade anchor on stainless chain, upgraded windlass (2021), liferaft, MOB equipment, and passerelle.

Overall, this Xc 42 presents as a highly specified, carefully upgraded, and beautifully maintained cruising yacht, ready for serious passage-making.

Owner's Comments

We bought Ulla in 2014 with the dream of sailing her to the Mediterranean once we retired. The Xc 42 had always been a yacht we admired at the Southampton Boat Show, and we have felt incredibly fortunate to own one. She has proven to be the perfect size for a couple, offering comfortable accommodation for us and visiting friends, combined with the sailing pedigree that first drew us to the brand.
In 2017 we retired and set off to live our dream, sailing south through Europe and into the Med. The journey was unforgettable, with countless beautiful places visited along the way. Throughout, we came to truly appreciate the Xc 42’s sea‑keeping abilities, her balance, and her impressive performance both under sail and engine.
Since arriving, we have explored much of the Mediterranean, with Greece becoming our favourite cruising ground. We have spent many months living aboard, and she has been a wonderful home—comfortable, reliable, and a joy to sail. She has given us, and our friends, countless adventures and memories.
Ulla is admired wherever she goes, and it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to sell her. It simply feels like the right moment for us to begin new adventures away from sailing.
