Owner's Comments
"We stepped up to the X-Yachts Xc 47 'Silver Fox' from an Xp 44 because our goals had shifted. We wanted a blue-water capable yacht that offered significantly more comfort for longer adventures, but it absolutely had to be easily handled by just one or two people. Silver Fox has exceeded every expectation.
To ensure effortless short-handed sailing, we specified her with a furling boom, an electric rolling jib, and all-electric winches. Adjusting sail from the cockpit is completely stress-free. For longer passages, we also integrated a dedicated inner forestay with a heavy weather jib, a furling boom structurally strengthened for three reefs, and full plumbing/wiring prep to drop in a watermaker and air conditioning whenever required.
Below she feels less like a traditional boat and more like a luxury apartment. The interior is an incredibly comfortable haven with our bespoke projector system for use with the day bed, Quooker instant hot water tap, and all-electric heads.
Our first season was spent exploring the Baltic Sea. The highlight was short-handed sailing her from Kiel to Amsterdam with just my son and I, while my wife and daughter enjoyed a relaxed overland train journey to meet the 'mother ship'. We carried the asymmetric kite all the way down past the Frisian Islands in under 10 knots of breeze—she moved so beautifully that we weren't remotely tempted to turn on the engine. On the subsequent leg from Amsterdam back to our home port in the Hamble, we encountered heavy breezes, and Silver Fox proved herself to be an incredibly safe, reassuring, and sea-kindly partner.
The following year, we explored the French West Coast. After a delivery to Brest, I single-handed her down to Carnac to meet the family, who arrived via ferry so our dog could comfortably navigate the post-Brexit K9 rules. We spent six spectacular weeks living mostly at anchor, diving, and supporting our son competing in the Aero Worlds. I also had to do a bit of working from the boat and the 5G wifi system along with my nav table office worked a treat!
Recently, we have enjoyed her closer to home for luxury weekend getaways and a bit of club racing. True to the X-Yachts DNA, she shines around the course—proudly winning the X-Cup Overall, as well as taking 2nd in Class and 2nd X-Yacht overall in the Round the Island Race.
Silver Fox is a truly beautiful yacht. She is extraordinarily comfortable to live aboard for extended periods, highly capable, and deeply rewarding to sail in absolutely all wind conditions. We are only selling to move on to our next chapter, leaving her completely turnkey for her next owner's adventures."
